Visa Travel Money, can I use that in Puerto vallarta?

November 8th, 2008 by admin, under Puerto Vallarta Travel. 5 Comments

I am curious to know if a visa travel money card would be wise to take when I go to Puerto Vallarta? Or if they will accept that type of card? It sounds like a GREAT idea as opposed to cash.

The best way to travel to Mexico is with a combination of cash (bring some small bills for tips, small purchases etc) ATM card and credit card. Just remember ATM's disperse pesos not dollars. Take what you need for a couple of days. Not everyone accepts credit cards either so be prepared with cash or pesos. Always count your change. The exchange rate is about 11 pesos =1 dollar.

I would not bring a travel card. Not everyone excepts them but it would not hurt to call the corporate office and see if they are acceptable in third world countries.

Have fun and enjoy. Love Puerto Vallarta)

Things to do and day trips from Puerto Vallarta?

November 7th, 2008 by admin, under Puerto Vallarta Tours. 4 Comments

We will be going into Puerto Vallarta in Septemeber. We've heard good things about canopy tours and snorkeling. Does anyone have recommendations for locations and companies to snorkel and do canopy tours. Also any recommendations for restaurants and other places to visit that are a day trip or less. Lastly, there are sea turtles released from hatcheries during this time. Does anyone know how we can get involved with these programs? Thanks so much!!

Check out the website below, he has some good ideas, except he misspelled Mismaloya. Yelapa is an interesting trip.
Do some shopping on the island in the river Cual.
Eat the comida corrida (big lunch) and take a siesta after wards.
If you've never been to a Mexican supermarket, check out Gigante Supermercado–their supermarkets are like ours but they're different too.
If you wan to learn surfing, go up to Sayulita (about 40 minutes north)–they have a nice break, and shops to rent you a board and give you lessons.

Well, prices vary depending on when you go. So, head over to http://www.resideo.com/mx/puertovallarta and click the "Check Availability" button. Choose your dates, submit the form, then sort the results by price — that'll put the cheapest places first.

You can then read about each hotel, view pics & book online.

Don't forget to read reviews over at tripadvisor.com before you decide.

Good luck, and have fun!

How do I watch the Rose Bowl in Puerto Vallarta?

November 7th, 2008 by admin, under Condos in Puerto Vallarta. 2 Comments

I'm in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and want to watch the Rose Bowl very badly. We have SKY satellite TV at our condo. Does anyone know what channel this will be on or if it is even available. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks so much.

Rose Bowl also have a lot of Mexican fans, maybe it'll be broadcasting in Spanish in the local channel or UNIVISION, if you want for the original English broadcasting, ask to your concierge in the CONDO or look for some Bar , maybe a taxidriver can help you, enjoy it!!!

Is it better to book tours in Puerto Vallarta before travel or after arrival?

November 7th, 2008 by admin, under Puerto Vallarta Travel. 3 Comments

That depends on you, do you want to simply be on vacation when you get through the customs gate in P.V.? If so, then book from the comfort of your home.. If you staying a a decent hotel you'll have ample opportunity to book excursions, but be a ware that they often ask you to attend a short "Breakfast" meeting. Don't go!!! You'll end up sitting through a lecture on time share and have to deal with some pretty strong sales people. You will also have street merchants trying to sell you various excursions in a package deal. Its all a matter of how you want to spend your time. All of these sales people speak English and are willing to haggle on the price. Have fun either way and if you get a chance, have your cab driver take you to PiPi's restaurant(not Pepe's taco although that is great to.) in downtown PV. Go early, its standing room only after 5:30….. Be careful of the Cadillac margarita!!

Can someone please suggest a good ATV tour company in Puerto Vallarta (Nuevo Vallarta) Mexico?

November 7th, 2008 by admin, under Puerto Vallarta Tours. 4 Comments

Our family (including 16 and 18 year olds) will be going to Puerto Vallarta this weekend, staying in Nuevo Vallarta at the Marival. We would like to do an ATV jungle tour that is fun, exciting, safe, and has newer well-maintained ATV's. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Just go to the mentioned site, in the first chapter, line 5 or 6 the two mayor ATV Tour agencies are mentioned !

What is the Best Hotel in Puerto Vallarta Or the newest One?

November 7th, 2008 by admin, under Puerto Vallarta Hotels. 2 Comments

I will Be Going on Agaust Do U know what is The best hotel?
Is it a good time to Puerto Vallarta?
What to do ?
Is all inclusive Good idea?

Depends on what you want. There is a new complex called Nuevo Vallarta that is all-inclusive time shares (but you can rent them too). The Grand Mayan has a swimming pool that is 4 football fields in size! But people who go to Nuevo Vallarta or any all-inclusive are so cut-off from the people and places in "real" Mexico. It is kind of like riding the "Mexico ride" at Disneyland. They are expensive and a very plasticized view of another country. If this is how you want to vacation, why spend the travel money for someplace you will not actually experience? There are nice hotels in Vallarta that will run you $45 a day, and won't cut you off from Mexico itself. One thing, if you are going in August, you are going at the hot, hot, hot, time of the year. AC might be mandatory, and many traditional Mexican hotels don't have it. There are many things to do in Vallarta, but to advise you, I'd have to know more about what you want. People who go to all-inclusives often use shopping as their main recreation. Good for them, I say, "ick". But, to each their own. The thing I enjoyed most was taking the busses up and down the coast and visiting the smaller villages, the village markets, etc. Have fun.

Puerto Vallarta Real Estate?

November 7th, 2008 by admin, under Condos in Puerto Vallarta. 1 Comment

My husband and I want to buy a condo in Puerto Vallarta but who do I trust to help me? I'm a realtor in southern Cali so I just need help finding what I need mostly through e-mail. Is there anyone out there who can help me get started?
My husband, who is a mexican citizen, and I want to buy a condo in Puerto Vallarta. Can anyone tell me who I can trust or where to go?

I cna't, but I can warn you to be careful. If you are American you can not buy there. Only Mexicans can purchase. Typically the American give cash to the Mexican and the home is in the Mexican name. You can be named part ower after the fact, but they will always legaling own part of your house. As you can imagine, this sets you up to be very vulnerable to freud. There isn't anything you can do about it either, the Mexican government will not help you.
